Wine of the Season
by Head Sommelier, Davide Vaccarini
The Wine: Giardini Arimei, Azienda Fratelli
Muratori, Ischia, Campania, Italy N.V.
The Grapes: Biancollela, Forastera, Uva
Rilla, San Lunardo, Coglionara
The first two grapes are indigenous to the Campania Region with
the other three coming from the Ischia Island opposite Naples in
the south of Italy.
The vineyard is only a single hectare; every single grape is
picked at different times because they mature at different stages.
So this wine required five harvests and is aged in oak for 24
months.
Davide's Tasting Notes:
Dark yellow. Intense floral, honey and
tropical on the nose
Quite sweet and the palate, harmonious with
a dry and clean after-taste
Astonishing evolution on the palate, elegant
and unique!
Try this beautiful conversation wine with
pan-fried duck liver, desserts such as tiramisu, warm chocolate
fondant, pastries and cheese
Davide says, "I personally suggest this with duck liver rather
than Sauternes because this dish is a starter and a Sauternes is
far too sweet to begin a meal with especially if you want to
continue with a white wine after it; the Giardini Arimei instead
creates a perfectly balanced match that leaves the palate
completely clean and ready without compromise for the next course
and the next wine."
Wine Flights
To add to your experience we have introduced a wonderful
selection of wine flights to enhance your visit.
Offering the opportunity to journey through varying vintages
(vertical or horizontal - for all wine buffs), grapes and
regions spanning all four corners of the earth to
expertly complement your food.
Details of Wine Flights can be found within the Wine List or
feel free to ask your sommelier who will enthusiastically
assist.
Greater Expectations
To broaden the opportunity of trying some of the world's finest
and rarest wines, we have created a company policy to 'cap' margins
at the higher level of the wine list.
Wine afficionados will survey a comprehensive and well thought
out list, with some tantalising and unexpected wines but will be
equally astounded to see them presented at such agreeable
pricing.
House Champagne
We are delighted to be able to announce that Henri Giraud has
become the House Champagne at Exclusive Hotels.
From the most northerly, south facing growing region of Ay,
Henri Giraud, is family owned and run. Fermented and aged in small
oak barrels for 12 months, followed by 6 years of bottle ageing,
these traditionally made, wood-aged Champagnes include a luxury
cuvee reminiscent of Krug! It's chilling to perfection for you!
